Stair Lifts For Narrow Stairs

Are you looking for stair lifts for narrow stairs? Here at The Care Team, we specialise in providing mobility equipment for a variety of needs. In particular, we use stairlift specialists who install stairlifts on unusual shaped staircases and stair lifts for narrow stairs.

So if you have a particularly narrow staircase, don’t worry. We may still be able to install a stairlift.

Here’s an installation on a particularly narrow staircase.

Many stairlifts wouldn’t be appropriate for this set of stairs because it was too narrow and there was a corridor at the base of the stairs, with doors either side.

Stair Lifts For Narrow Stairs – The Flow Stairlift

The Flow X stairlift is a particularly clever stairlift which tilts and pivots while moving. This makes it unique among stairlifts and it can be fitted even on spiral staircases. It has a patented technology which is known as the ASL (Advanced Swivelling and Levelling).

Most stairlifts pivot only at the top and the bottom of the stairs, for ease of entry and exit. But they often cannot tilt, pivot and climb simultaneously which is what makes the Flow series unique. The Flow X has this feature which allows it to navigate much tighter spaces than other stairlifts.

It’s downward facing ride position also makes it more suitable for difficult and awkward staircases. Many stairlifts have an outward facing chair position which limit their ability to be installed on narrow stairs.

With an outward facing chair position, the width of the staircase is an issue in tight spaces.

Stair Lifts For Narrow Stairs – The Flow X Rail

The rail on the Flow X (or Flow 2) is designed to be installed on difficult staircases too. With many stairlifts the rail must run out onto the corridor/hallway to allow for the turning mechanism to work properly. This means if you don’t have space in the corridor or landing, the lift can’t be fitted.

The Flow X rail has a “drop nose” which means it doesn’t take up any floor space on the bottom floor. The chair can also be “parked” anywhere on the rail and called from a remote control – saving space at the top/bottom in tight, awkward spaces.

The Flow X can be installed on staircases as narrow as 61 cm in width and folds down to only 38 cm in width when not in use.
