Slim Stair Lift

If you’re looking for a slim stair lift, you probably have a narrow staircase. Our engineers specialise in stairlifts for narrow stairs and we have a few options which might be suitable. The choice of stairlifts starts with your staircase and whether you have a straight one or one with a bend or curve in it.

With a straight staircase, we will often recommend a suitable stairlift made for straight stairs. Straight stairlifts are often cheaper than their curved counterparts and generally are quicker to install too.

With a curved stairlift, there’s more customisation needed because the rail will be made to fit around your staircase specifically.

Slim Stair Lift – Straight Stairs

Here’s a slim stair lift which we might choose for a straight staircase.

This is the Stannah 600 stairlift which is also available as a reconditioned model if you’re on a budget. Reconditioned stairlifts are professionally refurbished stairlifts which have passed a thorough inspection and assessment. They come with a full 12 month warranty.

This stairlift is perfect for a straight staircase and particularly those with a slim fit. The Stannah 600 is a superb build quality and can sit well back on the rail, extremely close to the wall. this makes it perfect for very narrow and slim staircases where some stairlift models will struggle.

Slim Stair Lift – Curved Staircases

When a staircase is curved, we also have a solution if you need a particularly slim stair lift. We will often opt for one of two models. We like the Stannah 260 because again it can be used on very narrow stairs. In the pictures below you can see how close it sits towards the wall, making it perfect for narrow staircases with a bend in them.

When this stairlift isn’t a good fit, we also have an “ace” up our sleeve! This is the stairlift “go-to” when nothing else will do. The Flow X stairlift from Access BDD (Thyssen-Krupp) is often cited as the slimmest stairlift on the market and is particularly clever when it comes to navigating narrow, curved stairs.

Here’s a couple of pictures on awkward curved staircases showing just how versatile the Flow X really is.

The Flow X is one of a kind and can fit where other stairlifts cannot! It’s patented ASL (Advanced Swivelling and Levelling) operation means it can tilt, pivot and climb/descend simultaneously. This gives it an advantage on stairs where other stairlifts are too limited to be installed.

The single rail is an advantage too and allows it to navigate awkward doorways and corridors without obstructing them. While some stairlifts require a “run-on” to allow the stairlift to pivot at the top and bottom of the stairs, this one doesn’t. It can park and be called from anywhere on the rail from a remote control and it’s “drop nose” rail means it can be placed close to a doorway without obstruction.
